If you would like to enjoy the changing season

Drive out to the columbia Gorge. Make it an early drive and check out the grounds at The columbia Gorge Hotel, then step in and have breakfast. They have a beautiful waterfall, and authentic bridges dating back to...you better ask someone.
While out in that direction take note of the Multnomah Falls, and the dams. The dams have a neat viewing area of sturgeon in their natural enviroment, and vending machines that dispense fish pellets so you can feed the fish. There are picnic tables and a gift shop. You will enjoy this. They are called the Bonneville dams.

Ho's Automotive, inc

I just want to add we all need a mechanic right? If you are in the Northeast side of town, I always go to Ho's Automotive, he's an honest man and fair. His shop is right on the corner of 81st and Glisan. He was refered to me or I was referred to him, and I have had a lot of work done on my old Acura. I have always walked away satisfied. Here is some contact info.

No he didn't pay me to put that there, he's just a good honest mechanic.
I have another one in a different part of town I will add once I get the info. I encourage you to add you mechanic and your experience. I will post it. That's what this blog is for.

my first post

The whole idea I had in mind is simple. I have named my blog appropriately and hope that if there is a visitor to our city they will find this. If you have, welcome to Portland. There is no need to sit there in quiet desperation wondering what there is to do. Here I am creating the resource and giving tips for what you need to know from our perspective as citizens of Portland. Now because it is a blog, it may stray in different directions-opinions, feedback and on and on and on. I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. I will start by saying I am a bachelor. I eat out a lot. I live in the Northeastern portion of the city so one of my favorite places to go is Flying Pie Pizza on Stark street. Because I don't have the web addresses of any businesses that I mention, I will trust that you can enter them in a search engine and enjoy them as much as I do. There is no way to cover everything on my first entry. So. Back to the pie. I always call ahead and order a Supreme Pepporoni Calzone regular with garlic and seasoning. This will do nicely for one hungry person and the taste is absolute heaven. Adjacent to the Flying Pie on Stark Street is a cinema. The cost is three dollars and I heard they sometimes have double features. The theatre is new and well put together. If your into movies, this is a nice clean place to enjoy them and they serve food.
In the same area is Hawthorne. I just had a wonderful time with a friend of mine and it started by meeting at The Sapphire Hotel. This place was open and not suprisingly empty at one in the morning. I loved it. I had only coffee, but the interior spoke volumes to us. The tables are intimate and small, candle votives accentuate the low lit room and choice music sets the mood in the background. I'm a smoker so we opted to sit outside and enjoy the sidewalk ambiance. Straight out of a movie. It could have been Paris. The service was fantastic, and proffesional. I will keep that spot in mind for a long time, my friend said that it often gets crowded in there and for good reason. We then finished our coffees and took a stroll down hawthorne. this is a must, I got the VIP tour. Of course it was very late at that point, everything was closed...but it was nice window shopping. There is the beginning of Portlands eclectic mix of culture and experiences. We passed a bookstore that she likes to frequent, and she says that it is connected to a deli that slices up deli cheeses and salamis from various regions, this is connected to another store and so on. We reached Fred Meyer on Hawthorne, and I knew a lot of the rest of it. I have a wallet I purchased on Hawthorne at a boutique. It is a nice label wallet and at the risk of sounding shallow, you should check out j.fold wallets. There is a nice boutique somewhere on Hawthorne that carries them. On the same street is Fujin. I reccomend the chicken with green beans and bean sauce. You'll go back for more. Across from Fred Meyer is Pepino's. I always get the Thai chicken wrap and I ask that they add potatos. I think that is a nice start, I will return my blog to Hawthorne, there is so much more. The Red Light, ice cream, clothes, people.
